What Are ADSS Cable Fittings?

Nov. 15, 2022

ADSS fittings are used to secure ADSS cables to utility poles. When looking for the right cables for electrical distribution, there are many different options that you can play around with. One of them is the All Dielectric Self Supporting (ADSS) cable. This is a type of self-supporting optical fiber cable that does not require any kind of support in distributing electricity from one point to another.

As much as they may be independent, these cables are usually installed on poles and power lines. This is where the ADSS cable fittings come into play.

ADSS Preformed Suspension Clamp

Immobility Clamp

The quality of immobility clamp varies from the thickness of flat steel (the basic material for immobility clamp) and the thickness of galvanizing coating. The thickness of the galvanizing coating will affect the RTS value, stability, and anti-corrosion. Thin and uneven coating will result in rust. Some manufacturers may use thin flat steel and thin galvanizing coating to reduce the cost.

Armor Grip Suspension

An Armor Grip Suspension, also known as a suspension helix, is made of hot dip galvanized steel wires and aluminum alloy that are placed side by side and joined together to form a loop in the mid region. The ends of the loop are adjusted to form a helix that is resistant to tension and is placed horizontally between the steel wires. The loops are designed for holding a thimble (clevis thimble), which in return suspends the cable from the ole with the help of a twisted link.

Preformed Tension Clamp

The preformed tension clamp, also known as the terminating helix, is made with hot-dip galvanized steel wires and aluminum alloy, giving it the durability that makes it stand out from the other products in the market. The high tensile wires are placed side by side and form a loop. The loop is designed to hold the thimble in an effective manner.

The specific preformed tension clamp is designed while considering maximum strength so there is a minimum risk for any deformation that can happen where the cable and the fixture meet. This is made possible through increasing the contact area in this especially designed terminating helix.

Downlead Clamp

The downlead clamps support the OPGW (optical ground wires) from the upper part of the tower to the splice box. With proper installation of the downlead clamps, it offers sufficient strength and spacing without destroying the cable.

The clamp can establish a massive cable range owing to its exceptional design feature. This ensures it lowers the stocking requirement of the client when handling enormous cable diameters. The adapters in steel tower clamps ensure there is no drilling.

The clamp comprises four attachment portions that boost versatility when dealing with lattice towers, steel poles or wood. Also, the device has a 6-8 feet normal spacing. For the application of OPGW or ADSS, all urethane products can be used for flat or curved pole surfaces.

Crossover Clamp

Crossover clamps are mainly used in major transmission lines and communication line installations to secure strands of wires that are c crossing each other at right angles. In doing so, they minimize the effects of wear and tear on the strands.

The crossover clamp features a galvanized finishing that gives the ultimate assurance for durability and resistance and durability. The galvanization meets the minimum ASTM specifications.

The clamps are is usually used hex with bolts to reinforce their grip on the strands. The bolts also guarantee the stability of the strands.

The intelligent design of the clamp further enhances the stability of the whole connection. It also minimizes the constant vibration of the strand. This helps to minimize any kind of energy loss.

Huaneng Electric's design and construction makes ADSS mounting and threading fittings inherently rugged and rigid, and compliant with various international and TEC codes. These fittings are available in a variety of designs to meet the requirements of different pole/tower spans and different types of pole/tower members.
